Demi lamp

Demì by Mirco Crosatto for Linea Light Group

July 2019
A winner of a Red Dot Award this year, Demì is a large lamp that plays with refraction through a PMMA dome. The ethereal semicircle is perceived almost only when the LED lamp is on. The beam emitted is diverted by the laser micro-engravings on the surface of the diffuser. Otherwise, the object is completely transparent. The specific use of OptiLight™ technology allows the producer Linea Light Group to transform a simple shape into a powerful and aesthetically appealing light source. Demì is designed by Mirco Crosatto, who comments, ‘I began taking inspiration from one of the most beautiful building in the world, the Pantheon in Rome. I came to the conclusion that it was the perfect shape. The hole that in the Pantheon has the function of letting light filter in, in our lamp contains the LED. The light is instead emitted from the entire dome thanks to the thousands of ‘points’ (micro-incisions) on the surface in PMMA.’
